Costco Black Friday 2019 Ad Preview

Costco Black Friday 2019 Ad Preview: Expected Xbox, PlayStation4, 4K TV Deals

Costco's Black Friday 2019 deals will be superior to last year

Costco’s Black Friday efforts last year were a damp squib, especially considering the loyalty of its customer base. And while I don’t expect Costco to be the top destination for Black Friday 2019 shoppers, I do think deals will be much improved. So here are my expectations for Costco’s Black Friday 2019 headline deals.

Costco’s Biggest Black Friday Tech Deals Last Year

  • Xbox One X Forza Bundle with controller and 3-month GamePass for $419.99 ($70 saving)
  • Xbox One S Minecraft Creators Bundle for $199 ($100 saving)
  • Apple iPad 9.7-inch 32GB for $249.99 (save $70)
  • TCL 50-inch Class 4K Ultra HD Roku LED TV for $279.99
  • Vizio 55-inch Class 4K Ultra HD LED LCD TV for $449.99
  • Vizio 40" Class 1080p LED LCD TV for $199.99
  • Bose On-Ear Bluetooth Headphones - Triple Black for $99.99 (save $60)
  • Nikon D3500 DSLR Camera 2-Lens Bundle for $499.99 (save $100)
  • Dell XPS 13 4K Touchscreen laptop - $1,350 ($350 saving)
  • Google Home Mini 3 pack for $69.99 ($30 saving)

What To Expect From Costco’s Black Friday 2019 Sales

As you can see above, the deals last year were not overly exciting. No deals for the Nintendo Switch, Sony PS4/PS4 Pro or Apple iPhones were serious blows. I don’t think Costco will fix all of these, but I expect the following deals to headline its Black Friday 2019 ad:

  • Xbox One X Bundle (game + controller + 3-month GamePass) for $399.99 deal ($110 saving)
  • Sony Playstation 4 Pro Bundle for $294.99 (saving $105)
  • Apple iPad 9.7-inch 32GB for $249.99 (save $70)
  • iPad (7th generation) for $249 (save $80)
  • 55-inch 4K TV from a respectable brand for $399
  • 50-inch 4K TV from a respectable brand for $249
  • 40-inch 4K TV from a respectable brand for $179
  • (New) Google Nest Mini - $29.99 ($20 saving)
  • Premium Linksys/Asus WiFi 6 router ($100 saving)

Sadly, I still think Costco will again not offer deals on iPhones and the Nintendo Switch but I do expect it to deliver some very solid deals on midrange TVs from the likes of TCL and Vizio as well as discounts on Google’s new Nest range of smart devices. Laptops should also be a strong point (look out for deals on Dell’s premium XPS range, Inspirons and HP Pavilions). There should also be some big savings on high-end routers (look for WiFi 6 models).

Black Friday Ad Release - Last year Costco’s ad was released on October 27 and, with Black Friday 2019 happening one week later, this year Sunday November 3 looks like the hot date. I expect Costco to go big on TVs and laptops, in particular, but watch for deals being split: some will be available in the run-up to Black Friday, though doorbusters tend to run only from Black Friday through to Cyber Monday.

Sale Days and Times - Whereas rivals typically open at 6pm on Thanksgiving, Costco is usually closed and opens again at 9am on Black Friday. I don’t expect that to change this year. Despite this, Costco’s online store will be open and taking orders throughout Thanksgiving. Costco membership will be required for the full discount price.

Free Shipping - While some items may ship for free at Costco, there is currently no free shipping policy available. This places it at a disadvantage to most rivals.

Costco Cyber Monday - Costco tends to repeat most of its Black Friday deals on Cyber Monday. A good deal is still a good deal, but watch out for Target because it will offer additional discounts, especially for REDCard holders.

I will be extensively tracking Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2019 deals and publishing the best offers daily, so be sure to bookmark my page.
